Advent Quiet Day: Dec. 21, 2013, 9 AM-noon in the Parish Hall

The late James C. Fenhagen II, former President and Dean of General Theological Seminary, writes* “To pay attention to our breathing in and breathing out is, in itself, a form of prayer. Simply by paying attention to the movement of our breath, we are open to a silence within us that is responsive to the presence of God.”

Join us on the last Saturday of Advent, Dec. 21, 2013 from 9 AM-noon in the parish hall for an Advent Quiet Day. St. Michael’s yoga instructor, Raima Larter, will lead us in a gentle practice of restorative yoga and other contemplative techniques designed to help us slow down, quiet the mind, and discover what’s in our hearts. As we learn to focus more fully on our breath we may, like Mary, discover that God is alive in our body, just waiting for us to pay attention.

Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. Bring a sweater or shawl or other warm layers and a notebook to capture thoughts that may arise during the morning. Coffee, tea, nutritious snacks and yoga equipment will be provided.
