Two weeks ago, St. Michael’s was transformed into a world’s fair carnival where we welcomed close to 40 campers and teen helpers for our annual Vacation Bible School. The theme was “Everywhere Fun Fair: Where God’s World Comes Together.” The kids learned about our neighbors in other countries, focusing on Japan, Zimbabwe, United Kingdom, Australia, and Mexico. They participated in games and crafts relating to those countries, and learned a little about other languages and cultures in the process. The kids learned the hymn “In Christ There is No East or West,” and responded with a robust “Love God, Love Your Neighbor!” when they heard the cue. Each evening kicked-off with dinner under the big top, followed by the evening’s activities, which included Bible story inside the popcorn box (a favorite decoration with the kids!), and wrapped up with compline (kids version!) in the sanctuary. Many thanks go out to our great team of volunteers who: prepared dinners, served, cleaned-up, assisted with crafts and games, and helped in a variety of capacities as needed . We collected food donations all week for AFAC. The week wrapped up with an all-parish ice cream social. It was a fantastic ending to a fun-filled week!
